Top Award for GE Caledonian Apprentice

GE Caledonian’s Modern Apprentice Fraser Wallace had a double reason to celebrate at the recent Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2018. Winning the trophy for Foundation Apprentice of the Year, Fraser then went on to clinch the top award of the night, Scottish Apprentice of the Year 2018, at the ceremony in Perth Concert Hall.

Fraser, who received the second trophy from Deputy First Minister John Swinney, commented: “It feels amazing to have won these awards. Being nationally recognised for my achievements in the course and with GE Caledonian is incredible.”

Fraser completed his Foundation Apprenticeship at Ayrshire College in June 2018, having gained hands-on work experience with GE Caledonian as part of the course. The Foundation Apprenticeship allowed Fraser to start second year in GE Caledonian’s Modern Apprenticeship programme, after impressing Apprentice Leader, Stephen McNab.

Stephen, of GE Caledonian commented: “It was evident from the first time we met Fraser that he was enthusiastic about the engineering industry and in particular GE Caledonian. The Foundation Apprenticeship course at Ayrshire College prepared his practical and academic skills to enter the second year of our Modern Apprenticeship programme. We are proud to have the Foundation Apprentice of the Year and Scottish Apprentice of the Year 2018 as part of our organisation.”
